Rocky Mountain growth Initiative
The Rocky Mountain region has become one of the most prolific and fastest growing natural gas and NGL producing areas in the nation. The Piceance Basin of northwestern Colorado, as well as the Jonah and Pinedale Fields in Wyoming’s Greater Green River Basin, are expected to be the primary drivers of production growth in the Rockies for the foreseeable future. Natural gas production from the Piceance Basin currently exceeds 1.2 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) and has been growing at an annualized rate averaging about 25 percent over the past five years. In addition, studies conducted by independent energy researchers estimate recoverable reserves of approximately 42 trillion cubic feet from the Piceance Basin.
Similarly, production from the Jonah and Pinedale fields, which rank among the sixth-largest in the nation, has increased substantially since 2000 and now totals approximately 2 Bcf/d of natural gas. The Jonah/Pinedale area, as well as the Piceance Basin, are both benefiting from low finding and development costs, significant permitting and drilling activity and improvements in field technology to increase production from these long-lived reserves.
Recognizing this potential, the Rockies has become a major focal point of Enterprise’s efforts to expand its integrated energy value chain, with the partnership having invested nearly $2 billion for organic growth projects and selected acquisitions.
